Madeleine Pape (MS, PhD, OLY) is a sociologist and Ambizione grantholder of the Swiss National Science Foundation and Associate Professor of Regulation and Integrity in Sport at the University of Lausanne’s Institute of Sport Sciences (beginning February 2027). Following her career as an Olympic athlete (Australia, Athletics, 800m), Dr Pape obtained her PhD in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr Pape’s research encompasses the regulation of eligibility in women’s sport, gender inequality in sports governance, and the study of sex and gender in biomedical and sports science research. Madeleine has published in leading journals including Cell, Biology of Sex Differences, British Journal of Sports Medicine, Social Studies of Science, Gender & Society, Body & Society, and Health Sociological Review. From 2022-2025, Dr Pape worked with the International Olympic Committee to implement the IOC Framework on Fairness, Inclusion and Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity and Sex Variations.
Dr. Mountjoy (MD, PhD) is a Clinical Professor at McMaster University, CAN. She is a Clinician Scientist, having worked for several International Sports organizations including the IOC, IGF (golf), World Rugby FIFA, World Netball, ASOIF, the ITA, and WADA. Her areas of clinical expertise and research interests are in the field of female athlete health, safeguarding in sport, and mental health. She is an active advocate for the promotion of holistic athlete-centred health care.
